What is sobriquet ? Why it is important area in PSC Exams

From Wikipedia

A sobriquet  is a nickname, sometimes assumed, but often given by another. It is usually a familiar name, distinct from a pseudonym assumed as a disguise, but a nickname which is familiar enough such that it can be used in place of a real name without the need of explanation. This salient characteristic is of sufficient familiarity that the sobriquet can become more familiar than the original name.

For example, Genghis Khan, who is rarely recognized now by his original name, Temüjin; or Mohandas Gandhi who is better known as Mahatma Gandhi. Well known places often have sobriquets, such as New York City, often referred to as the Big Apple. The term can therefore apply to the nickname for a specific person, group of people or even a place.

Planets are named after Roman God Why ? Share the Knowledge Series

    Planet                                                           Meaning
    ----------------------                               ---------------------------
    Mercury     :                                            Messenger God

    Venus         :                                           Goddess of romance

Earth          :                                            Goddess of the Earth

    Mars          :                                            God of War

Jupiter        :                                            Leader of the Gods

    Saturn        :                                            God of Agriculture

Uranus       :                                            God of the Sky

Neptune     :                                            God of the Sea

    Why this name ?

The names we use today for the innermost planets were assigned by the Romans and they named them after their Gods. These included Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn. The other three planets are not visible to the naked eye, so the Romans didn't know they existed. When modern astronomers did discover them, they stuck with this convention and named these planets after Roman gods as well (Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto)
    .
Tip: Pluto is not considered as Planet.
